We are thrilled to announce that Wellbeing Warrior will continue into 2025 with a new theme: "Impact Starts Here – Small Steps Lead to Big Changes." This theme highlights the power of small, everyday actions in creating significant, lasting change in our wellbeing. Whether it’s through physical activity, mental health practices, or lifestyle habits, each small step you take contributes to your overall wellness.

 

The 2025 Wellbeing Warrior Nomination Form is now available! This year, we’re simplifying the nomination form to make it easier to nominate your colleagues, friends, or even yourself for a chance to be recognized as a Wellbeing Warrior.  To make it easier for everyone to participate, we’ve simplified the nomination process for 2025 with a shorter application. 

 

Become a Wellbeing Warrior 

It’s never too late to start your journey. In 2025, you have the chance to make small, impactful changes that will lead to big improvements in your health and wellbeing. Preventive Health: Winter Safety and Injury Prevention

Jack Frost may bring a vast winter wonderland to many parts of the country during the winter months, but the season also fosters dangerous conditions that can make doing everyday tasks—like grocery shopping and walking the dog—challenging.  What can you do to stay safe? Follow these tips to help prevent winter injuries:

 

  1. Stay Steady on Your Feet: Ice and snow can create slippery surfaces. Wear shoes with good traction and take extra care when walking outside. Walk slowly, take small steps, and keep your hands free to catch yourself if needed.

  2. Shovel Smart: If shoveling snow, use a shovel with a curved handle to reduce strain. Take frequent breaks and avoid overexerting yourself.

  3. Dress in Layers: Layering your clothing helps regulate body temperature and protects against hypothermia. Make sure your coat, gloves, and boots are waterproof to stay dry and warm.

  4. Stay Active Indoors: Keep moving indoors to avoid stiffness and improve circulation. Stretch, walk, or try a winter-friendly workout to stay limber.

  5. Stay Hydrated: Cold weather can deceive us into thinking we're less thirsty than warmer months. However, staying hydrated is always important for overall health and helps prevent conditions like frostbite. Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel particularly thirsty.

  6. Watch for Frostbite: Exposure to cold weather can lead to frostbite. Protect extremities by wearing hats, scarves, gloves, and socks, and avoid prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures.

 

By taking these precautions, you can enjoy the season safely while staying healthy and injury-free. Stay warm and be mindful of your surroundings this winter!
