August Wellbeing Warrior: Riley Figliozzi

This month, we’re proud to celebrate Riley Figliozzi as our August Wellbeing Warrior! Riley was nominated by Katy Milano, who shared: “I am proud to have Riley on my team, and as an influence as a Wellbeing Warrior!”
Riley’s commitment to wellbeing shines across every dimension of life — physical, social, emotional, and community. She dedicates herself to fitness by going to the gym and participating in group classes 3–5 days a week, all while steadily training as a runner. What began as short 1–3 mile jogs has grown into an inspiring journey of resilience and growth. Earlier this year, Riley proudly completed her first 10K in March, followed by a personal best of 8 miles in 1.5 hours. That progress paid off on August 24th, when she accomplished her biggest goal yet — completing her 10-mile race in 2 hours and 9 minutes, a milestone she once thought impossible.
Beyond her fitness goals, Riley makes an incredible impact through her passion for mental health and community. As a Life Coach and Mental Health Advocate, she hosts local women’s circles that create safe, judgment-free spaces for women to connect, share openly, and support one another. These circles focus on self-care, mental health, and building meaningful relationships — and the feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive.

Health & Safety: Reporting an Injury

Reporting an injury is more than a requirement—it’s an important part of psychological safety and overall wellbeing. When injuries are reported promptly, leaders can respond quickly with medical support, workplace adjustments, and return-to-work planning. This reinforces that health is prioritized, strengthening trust and care within the team.
Timely reporting also reduces stigma. When employees see that reports are handled fairly and without blame, they feel confident that concerns will be addressed and that their wellbeing truly matters. This approach prevents small injuries from becoming serious, lowers stress, and creates a culture where safety and respect are the standard.
Reporting protects everyone. Each report helps identify hazards, improve processes, and prevent future incidents. By reporting, you’re safeguarding yourself and contributing to a safer, healthier workplace for all.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month: Know the Signs, Protect Your Health

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on one of the most serious women’s health issues. Ovarian cancer is often called the “silent” cancer because its early symptoms can be vague and easily mistaken for less serious conditions. By increasing awareness and encouraging proactive healthcare, we can make a difference.
Why Awareness Matters
Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women. When found early, the survival rate is significantly higher — but only about 20% of cases are diagnosed at an early stage. That’s why knowing the warning signs and risk factors is crucial.
Know the Possible Warning Signs
While symptoms can be caused by many conditions, pay attention if they are new, persistent, or unusual for your body—especially if they occur more than 12 times a month:
Persistent bloating or abdominal swelling
Pelvic or abdominal pain
Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
Frequent or urgent need to urinate
Changes in bowel habits, fatigue, or unexplained weight changes
Risk Factors to Be Aware Of
Age (most common in women over 50)
Family history of ovarian, breast, or colorectal cancer
Certain genetic mutations (such as BRCA1 and BRCA2)
Endometriosis or never having been pregnant
If these symptoms are new, frequent, or persistent, it’s important to talk with a healthcare provider.
Your Role in Prevention & Early Detection
Listen to your body: Don’t ignore persistent symptoms.
Know your family history: Share it with your doctor.
Schedule regular check-ups: Discuss any concerns promptly.
Stay informed: Awareness can save lives — yours or someone else’s.
The Bottom Line
Ovarian cancer may be difficult to detect early, but awareness is a powerful tool. Knowing your body, tracking unusual changes, and advocating for your health can make a lifesaving difference.
Show Your Support
This month, let’s help break the silence around ovarian cancer. Share this information with friends, family, and colleagues. The more we talk about it, the more likely it is that someone will recognize the signs early.
