Caught in Action: Highlighting Acts of Kindness
We are shining a spotlight on employees who demonstrated outstanding commitment to service and community through their volunteer efforts. Their actions remind us that when we come together to support others, we not only strengthen our communities but also inspire those around us to do the same.
Feeding America in Elizabethtown, KY

A team of six Serco employees and their family members volunteered at Feeding America in Elizabethtown, KY, supporting their Backpack Program. As part of this effort, volunteers packed food bags that are distributed to children identified by their teachers as “food-insecure.” Each Friday, these students take home a bag of food to ensure they have enough to eat over the weekend when school meals are not available.
We are proud to recognize the following volunteers for their dedication: Joan Henley, Sibylle Whyte, Amanda Crowdus, Kelly Perry, Wesley Kastner, and Julia Park. Their teamwork and compassion exemplify how even a few hours of service can have a lasting impact, providing hope and support to children and families across Kentucky.
Backpack Drive in Herndon, VA

In addition to this group effort, we're excited to recognize Roger Gulac for leading a summer backpack drive in support of local students. Employees in and around the Herndon, VA office donated over 100 lbs of school supplies to help children start the school year prepared and confident. The drive was held in partnership with FACETS, a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in Fairfax County, VA. Thanks to Roger’s leadership and everyone who contributed, Serco made a meaningful difference in the lives of these students.
Together, these acts of service represent the spirit of giving and the values that Serco employees bring to both their work and their communities. We are proud to celebrate our September Caught in Action winners for their generosity, leadership, and commitment to making a difference. Their example encourages us all to look for ways, big or small, to contribute to the wellbeing of others.
Want to be next month’s Caught in Action star? Prioritize your wellbeing, make a positive impact, and you could be featured for your efforts!
September Wellbeing Warrior: Kimberly Lukert

This September, we’re excited to recognize Kimberly Lukert as Serco’s Wellbeing Warrior, nominated by a fellow colleague. Kimberly may have only been with Serco a few years, but in that short time she has already built a reputation for her positive outlook, social spirit, and dedication to personal and team wellbeing.
From the start, Kimberly has brought her energy and enthusiasm to every task she takes on. She demonstrates what it means to balance both professional excellence and personal wellness, showing her team that you can take care of yourself while still giving your best at work.
Recently, Kimberly faced a challenge when she pulled muscles in her back while carrying materials down stairwells. For many, this kind of setback could have lingered, but Kimberly approached her recovery with determination. With support from tools like Hinge Health, she was able to heal quickly—back on her feet and returning to the ship within just a week. Her resilience not only highlights her commitment to her own health, but also serves as a reminder to others of the importance of recovery, awareness, and prevention.
What makes Kimberly stand out even more is how she turned her personal experience into an opportunity to help others. She is now sharing safe practices with her teammates—encouraging awareness of surroundings, demonstrating proper techniques for bending and lifting, and emphasizing caution in everyday tasks. By doing so, Kimberly is making wellness a team effort, helping to ensure that everyone can stay safe and healthy at work.
Kimberly’s story is a great example of how wellbeing isn’t just about personal habits—it’s about lifting up those around you. She combines her positive attitude with her knowledge of work skills, teaching and encouraging others in ways that strengthen her team and build a healthier, safer workplace culture.
Please join us in celebrating Kimberly Lukert as our September Wellbeing Warrior. She is a true role model of resilience, positivity, and the power of sharing wellness with others.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Take Charge of Your Health

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, making up nearly one in three new cancer cases each year. Around the globe, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 14 seconds, and over her lifetime, about one in 20 women will receive this diagnosis (World Health Organization).
This October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re reminded of the power of prevention and early detection. While breast cancer is common, catching it early greatly improves treatment options and survival rates. Regular screenings, knowing the signs, and prioritizing your health can make all the difference.
Preventive Steps You Can Take:
Schedule regular screenings: Mammograms and clinical breast exams are key tools for early detection. Mammograms and clinical breast exams are key. Women aged 40–74 are generally advised to have a mammogram every 1–2 years. Talk to your healthcare provider about the schedule that’s right for you.
Know your risk factors: Family history, age, lifestyle, and certain genetic mutations can increase risk. Understanding your personal risk can help guide preventive strategies.
Practice self-awareness: About 40% of breast cancers are discovered by women themselves. Regularly check your breasts for any changes, such as lumps, skin dimpling, or unusual discharge.
Adopt a healthy lifestyle: Studies show that maintaining a healthy weight, staying active, limiting alcohol, and avoiding tobacco can reduce breast cancer risk by up to 30%.
Remember: Prevention and early detection save lives. This month, take the time to schedule screenings, talk to your doctor, and encourage loved ones to do the same.
Together, we can raise awareness, support one another, and prioritize our health.
